Davidson close to return

Preston North End defender Callum Davidson could return to first-team action this weekend after struggling with groin and knee injuries for most of this year.

The 30-year-old former Blackburn Rovers and Leicester City star has not started a match since March.

He did return to pre-season training in July only to break down again and has been restricted to just three brief susbtitute appearances this term.

However, after visiting a specialist on Saturday, the Scot has finally been allowed to return to training, and could come into contention for this weekend's Championship clash with struggling Luton Town.
