Brown to ring the changes at Preston
Preston boss Phil Brown vowed to make wholesale changes after his side were relegated from the npower Championship following the 1-0 defeat to Cardiff.Peter Whittingham's clinical sixth-minute strike from Craig Bellamy's low cross proved decisive as the famous old Lancashire outfit slid into their third tier of English football for the first time since 2000.Brown, 51, arrived at Deepdale in January, tasked with keeping them in the second tier but it took him 13 games to register a win and, despite an impressive rally in recent weeks, it was not enough. He said: "We have already talked long and hard - myself, Brian Horton, David Unsworth and the chairman - about where we go."We obviously have to sit and plan for the future, that is what management is all about. We've got some big decisions to make about people whose contracts are up - at the same time, some players have a big decision to make about whether they want to give us a chance in League One."In the last few weeks we've signed up a number of younger pros who will go towards being the bulk of the squad for next season as opposed to the quality we have been able to put on the field of late."
