Bolton-born Whaley, 24, was only a fringe player at Deepdale last season but he has attracted strong interest from Canaries boss Bryan Gunn. The former Bury wideman, who had a brief spell on loan at Barnsley last season, was omitted from the Preston squads which played Bamber Bridge and Chorley on Tuesday night and has headed to Scotland for talks with Gunn. A statement from Preston said: "Preston North End can confirm that Simon Whaley has been granted permission to undertake talks with Norwich City after agreeing terms with the Canaries for the transfer of the winger. "Simon was left out of the squads to face Chorley and Bamber Bridge on Tuesday night and travelled up to meet Norwich manager Bryan Gunn at the Norfolk club's Scottish training camp. "The club believes that talks will continue at the weekend when the League One side return from north of the border and if personal terms can be agreed, all the terms of a move would be in place."
