Welbeck set to make Preston debut

The 19-year-old Manchester United striker joined North End on loan for the rest of the season on Monday and is set to make his debut at London Road.

Welbeck, who becomes Darren Ferguson's first signing as Preston boss, has scored five goals in 24 appearances for United.

However, Ferguson will again be without Paul Parry and Barry Nicholson as he prepares to return to his former club.

Former Cardiff winger Parry remains sidelined with a knee problem while midfielder Barry Nicholson (broken leg) is a long-term absentee.

Ex-Posh boss Ferguson is seeking his first win since taking over at Preston and said: "I'd be slightly disappointed if I didn't get a good reception."
