David Unsworth has pledged to give his all after being placed in caretaker charge of relegation-threatened Preston. The Deepdale first-team coach has been handed the reins as the club search for Darren Ferguson's successor, with former Wigan boss Paul Jewell thought to be among the leading candidates. Preston are rock-bottom of the npower Championship after a disastrous first half of the season and Unsworth is seen as the man to steady the ship. The former Everton defender said: "I am delighted to be given this opportunity. I love the club and I will give it my all. "I have every faith in the players at this club to get us out of this difficult situation we find ourselves in. "I am sure the fans will get right behind us for the rest of the season and starting on Saturday when we take the field against Derby County."
