Triple signing lifts North End

Preston boss Darren Ferguson believes the arrival of three new players this week has handed his side a major boost in their fight against relegation. North End are rock-bottom of the npower Championship ahead of Saturday's trip to QPR but Ritchie De Laet, Danny Pugh and Michael Tonge have all been added to the squad on loan deals. De Laet has joined from Manchester United until December 13 and Pugh and Tonge have returned to Deepdale from Stoke on month-long deals following previous loan spells at the club. Ferguson told the club's official website: "I am absolutely delighted. I have said for a while we have needed to strengthen, we have been trying and I think the quality we have brought in shows we want to improve the squad. "Ritchie De Laet is a young lad at Manchester United, he is very quick and can play anywhere along the back four which will be helpful. "The other two already know the club, Pugh has already been here and when we told him that Tonge was coming on loan, that was an advantage because they know each other. They have come from a club where a manager has installed a high working mentality which we are going to bring here."
