Trev Appoints Risdale

Peter Risdale who almost bankrupted Leeds has been appointed the new chairman of Preston today as owner Trevor Hemmings acted quickly in replacing Maurice Lindsay.

Lindsay stepped down from his position due to health reasons last week and Hemmings was quick to appoint a successor. Risdale is currently at Plymouth overseeing the operations side of the club as he oversaw a recent takeover at the troubled south west club.

Risdale has had a tumultuous career in football taking Leeds to the brink of a Champions League final whilst almost going bust and into administration a few years after. He has also spent time at Barnsley and Cardiff where financial difficulty followed him before Plymouth asked him to help out in their dire circumstances.

In reality, Risdale will just be a puppet for Hemmings but it is interesting that an appointment has been made outside the close circle of friends connected with Preston's owner.
