Mellor has already been linked with a move north of the border to Rangers as his contract expires next summer with Proctor interesting Swansea although they are looking at other options. Proctor is in his first full season at his home club and appears to want to stay to learn his trade.
Preston's start player HUme has been linked to Huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday who are both above Preston in the table but neither are guaranteed of automatic promotion and Brown would be unwilling to sell to a club in the same division.
