Preston had double delight in the striking department last week as Simon Grayson steadily assembles his side ahead of the new season.

Preston confirmed the signing of ex Bolton and England international Kevin Davies. The pursuit had gone on for a number of weeks before the frontman agreed to sign on a free transfer.

The signing of Davies was greeted with great entusiasm and his experience will come in handy during a season in which expectation has risen despite being weeks away from the start of the season.

Davies was at the Liverpool friendly as a spectator only wuth his family due to the fact that he has only completed a couple of days of preseason training. He may well take part in either the Chorley or Bamber Bridge friendly this week.

Preston had further giod news in the striking department as it was confirmed that Iain Hume has agreed reduced terms in the last year of his contract ti stsy at the club.

Hune was expected to complete a move to Doncaster over the the summer after spending last season on loan at the Keepmoat. The deal collapsed and a deal was agreed that he could stay at Preston on wages the club could afford to keep them within a comfortable distance within the play fair rules.
