Roberts robs Westley of winning return

Stevenage captain Mark Roberts earned his side a point with a header in the fourth minute of added time as Preston manager Graham Westley's return to Broadhall Way ended in a 1-1 draw.

Iain Hume's strike with five minutes left looked certain to have secured the three points for North End but Roberts popped up in the nick of time to keep Boro on the fringes of the play-off race.

Former Preston striker Patrick Agyemang had an early opening for the hosts when he cut inside from the right but his shot kept rising as it went over.

Westley's side then forged their first chance when Chris Holroyd picked out Chuks Aneke but his shot on the turn was well saved by goalkeeper Chris Day.

Preston looked to have won it when Danny Mayor's through ball slipped in Hume and the Canadian calmly slid the ball past Day and into the net.

However, Stevenage saved themselves right at the death as Roberts climbed highest to plant his header from Michael Bostwick's cross into the top corner.
