St Ledger set for North End return

Preston boss Darren Ferguson looks certain to be able to call on defender Sean St Ledger for the trip to Roses rivals Sheffield United. The Republic of Ireland international is returning to full fitness after a hamstring injury sustained during pre-season. He played the first 45 minutes of Tuesday`s Carling Cup win at Bradford but was withdrawn at half-time as a precaution. Yet Ferguson said: "Sean was a complete precaution - he will be okay for Saturday." Fellow centre-back Wayne Brown, a summer signing from Leicester, has yet to make a league appearance for Ferguson`s side. He suffered a hip-flexor injury in pre-season and then picked up a slight calf strain. Midfielder Barry Nicholson remains a long-term absentee as he recovers from a leg injury.
