St Ledger eager for Ireland chance

The 24-year-old had a fine season for North End as they made a late run into the play-offs and he has been rewarded for his performances by receiving recognition from Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni ahead of the clash at Craven Cottage next Friday. And St Ledger, who is joined in the squad by full-back Eddie Nolan, is happy to end his three-year exile from the squad. "It's a nice bonus to be fair. I've been trying to get in the squad and to eventually get in there, I am really pleased to be involved," he told Preston's official website. "It's come as a bit of a surprise to me because I haven't been in the squad all season and I think my form has been quite consistent. "It's a friendly so there's a good chance to play well but now I am in the squad, it's my job to keep myself in there. There's the World Cup next summer so it is down to me now to try and keep my place in the squad."
