North End sneaked into the top six by virtue of having scored one more goal than Dave Jones's side, who were hammered 6-0 at Deepdale on April 18.[LNB]Alan Irvine's team went on to win their remaining two games while Cardiff faltered to ensure it is Preston who will face Sheffield United in a two-legged play-off semi-final.[LNB]St Ledger said: "Of all of the teams, Cardiff looked to have a great chance of going up automatically, but after what happened here with the 6-0 they seemed to blow up a little bit.[LNB]"Whether that result took it's toll or not I'm not sure.
