The 23-year-old will link up with former North End boss Paul Simpson at the Prostar Stadium for a nominal fee. Neal progressed through the youth ranks at Deepdale and was a permanent fixture on the bench for the Lilywhites last season as understudy to Andy Lonergan. Neal made just one appearance for the first team, as a substitute against Ipswich in February 2005, but Preston chairman Derek Shaw paid tribute to the stopper. Shaw said: "We were happy to give Chris a better opportunity to go and play regular first team football. Chris has been with the club since 16, progressing through the ranks. "But with the return of Wayne Henderson and Andy Lonergan's impressive form we didn't want to stand in Chris' way. This move gives him the opportunity of regular first team football."
