Russell Set To Cancel Contract

Sky Sports have confirmed that Preston are set to cancel the contract of midfielder Daryl Russell to allow him to find a new club on a free transfer.

Russell is one of several players who was placed on the transfer list and was actively seeking a new club. The midfielder has not featured under Westley having been at Charlton for the second half of last season.

It is probably accurate to say that Westley has never even seen Russell train but when Westley takes a dislike to you then you don't get a chance to prove yourself. Russell played eleven games for Charlton helping them to promotion but has had a chequered history at North End after a dismal start last season under Brown.

It is likely that Russell will leave later this week after his contract is cancelled by the club and several clubs are interested in snapping up the midfielder on a free transfer.
