Rooted And Doomed

Preston went down to their third defeat in a row away to fellow strugglers Crystal Palace which now sees them rooted to the bootom of the Championship table. Preston are seven points adrift of safety after Sheffield UNited grabbed a late equaliser at home to Doncaster. The Whites looked doomed after they failed to come away from Sellhurst Park without a point. North End started with htree up front as Hume and Hayes returned to partner Chris Brown up front but it made no difference as Preston failed to register. The closest they came was a penalty shout in the second half when Treacey appeared to be hacked down in the opposition box. Nothing was given and Preston failed to create much else. Soon after in the second period, new signing for Palace, Iversen managed to score the only goal of the gamme just before the hour mark. Both managerless teams were rudderless and not much quality was on display. Preston now have just under two weeks before their next league as they face a Cup game this weekend against Forest. It is probable that a new man will be in charge before the league programme resumes.
