Phil Brown made changes to his Preston side but the end result was the same as the Whites completed their fifth win in a row against Charlton who are flying high in the league at the moment. Wholesale changes were made from the Preston side that defeated Yeovil on Friday evening. Arestidou made his debut in goal whilst Tsoumou was given his first start. Clucas was givena game whilst outcaster Morgan and Russell returned to the side alongside the fit again Ashbee. Preston started the game well with Russell striking a left foot shot home after the ten minute mark. The midfielder has not featured all season after a shocking pre-season game against Wigan. He was clearly out to impress someone. Danny Mayor was given a start and managed to bag a goal midway through the second half to double Preston's lead. The Whites kept a clean sheet and will travel to Southampton in the next round.
