Double blow for North End
Preston boss Graham Westley will be without midfield duo John Welsh and John Mousinho for the FA Cup first-round clash with Yeovil.
Former Tranmere man Welsh must sit out the tie after collecting a fifth booking of the season against his old club last time out, although Westley concedes the ban may have come at an opportune time.
"Welshy is out at the weekend," the North End boss told his club's official website. "Funnily enough he has a little knock that would have kept him out anyway, so it was the right time for him to get that suspension.
"The door opens and there are two or three lads banging on my door with their performances."
Mousinho may have to wait a while longer to return, with Tuesday's npower League One visit of Carlisle thought to come too soon for the club captain following a bout of mumps.
"Mumps has been quite debilitating for him," Westley told the Lancashire Evening Post. "It's been quite a bad dose of mumps which has knocked him sideways. With us playing Saturday-Tuesday next week, we're probably looking at the Stevenage game (next Saturday) for him to come back."
Boss Gary Johnson has no injury worries but has question marks over a number of loanees.
The Glovers will find out whether Norwich midfielder Korey Smith and Bristol City defender Joe Edwards will be available at Deepdale, although Dan Burn has been given the green light to play by parent club Fulham and Reading will allow striker Gozie Ugwu to play.
Striker Paddy Madden could be available after having his loan from Carlisle extended until the new year. The 22-year-old Irishman has scored five goals in as many appearances for the Glovers but a verdict has not yet been reached on whether he can be selected at Deepdale.
Yeovil added Aston Villa midfielder Daniel Johnson to their squad last week on an initial one-month loan but the deal was agreed with a stipulation that he could not feature in the FA Cup.
Midfielder Lewis Young is the only long-term injury absentee with an ankle problem as Yeovil head to the home of the Lillywhites for the second time this season having lost 3-2 in a thrilling clash back in September.
"You know you are always going to have a battle when you come up against Graham Westley's sides," Johnson told the Western Gazette.
