Grayson eyes another promotion

Preston boss Simon Grayson will start his bid to get a fourth team promoted to the second tier when his side host Wolves.

Grayson has led Blackpool, Leeds and Huddersfield out of the division and North End are fancied to be among the contenders this term, particularly after signing the experienced Kevin Davies.

The ex-Bolton striker will likely lead the line against Wolves as Stuart Beavon, Preston's only injury doubt, is struggling with a knee injury.

Iain Hume, who spent last season on loan with Doncaster, has been taken off the transfer list and could also feature.

Sam Ricketts could make his Wolves debut.

The former Bolton and Hull defender is Kenny Jackett's only signing since taking over during the summer.

Jackett has, however, overseen a mass exodus at Molineux with a number of senior players joining new clubs.

The former Millwall chief will be without the likes of Karl Henry and Dorus De Vries as they begin life in football's third tier.
