Injuries could dictate Preston team

Preston may not have the luxury of shuffling their pack against Watford in the Capital One Cup.

Boss Simon Grayson made five changes for the first-round victory over Crewe earlier this month but injuries and suspension have depleted his options.

Joe Garner may be his only fully-fit and available centre forward as Will Keane missed out at the weekend with a knock, Jordan Hugill completes a three-match suspension and Jermaine Beckford, who made his first appearance of the season as a substitute against Ipswich, is still not fit enough to start because of a knee problem.

Grayson changed his system when the Tractor Boys visited Deepdale because of a lack of options in attack but he has concerns at the other end too, with full-back Greg Cunningham doubtful due to a hamstring injury which forced him off on Saturday.

Alessandro Diamanti could make his full Watford debut.

The former West Ham striker came on at half-time during Sunday's goalless draw against Southampton and is likely to be one of a number of changes to boss Quique Sanchez Flores' starting line-up.

Nathan Ake should also be added to the squad following his loan switch from Chelsea, while fellow defender Joel Ekstrand (knee) is the only injury absentee.
