Edwards set for Shrews bow

Graham Westley has no new fitness concerns as Preston look to end their Deepdale hoodoo against Shrewsbury.

Last weekend's 2-2 draw with Coventry made it 10 home league games without victory for North End, chalking up an unwanted club record in the process.

The Lilywhites' midweek trip to Crawley was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, welcome news for defender Paul Connolly and wideman Lee Holmes who may have missed the Broadfield Stadium encounter with knocks. Both are fit to face the Shrews.

Declan Rudd is set to feature in the matchday squad after joining on loan from Norwich but is unlikely to dislodge Thorsten Stuckmann between the posts.

Full-back Keith Keane (knee) is expected to resume training next week but will not be ready for first-team action for around three weeks, while fellow defender Scott Laird (broken leg), striker Lee Trundle (hamstring) and midfielder John Mousinho remain out.

Shrews boss Graham Turner is expected to hand a debut to Rob Edwards.

The experienced defender arrived on a one-month loan deal on deadline day and will fill the void left by Jermaine Grandison, who has been ruled out for six weeks with a hip injury.

Turner expects to welcome back striker Luke Rodgers, who missed the goalless draw against Bury through illness.

Turner will hope the forward can find his scoring touch, as Town have netted just two goals in their last six games.

The Shrews boss has watched his side fail to win any of their last four games and they sit five points above the drop zone.

They remain without midfield duo Mark Wright and Ryan Doble, who have not featured since the turn of the year duo to knee and hand problems respectively.
