Huntington banned for Preston

Full-back Paul Huntington will serve a one-game ban when Preston face Port Vale at Deepdale.

Huntington, like fellow defender Tom Clarke, had accrued four yellow cards heading in to Sunday's game at Shrewsbury and while the latter avoided a fifth caution prior to the January amnesty, Huntington picked up another booking meaning he sits out.

Boss Simon Grayson has hinted Jack King, who has been used in a variety of positions this term, could be recalled after resting him on Sunday following his recent foot injury.

Elsewhere, Grayson was impressed with the way substitutes Lee Holmes, Paul Gallagher and Iain Hume turned the tide in North End's favour in Shropshire and they could be rewarded with places in the starting line-up.

Chris Robertson comes back into the reckoning for Port Vale.

Robertson missed the 2-0 home win over Rotherham on Sunday as he served a one-match suspension but the Scot will return to contention on New Year's Day to boost manager Micky Adams' defensive options.

Vale have one or two players nursing minor knocks following the festive fixtures but nothing that is expected to change Adams' squad ahead of the trip to Deepdale.

Chris Shuker, Ben Williamson, Ryan Lloyd, Chris Birchall, Lee Hughes and Jordan Hugill, along with Robertson, are among those players vying for recalls.
