North End waiting on Clarke

Preston are hopeful central defender Tom Clarke will be back in their line-up for the crunch clash with Leyton Orient at Deepdale.

Clarke, whose brother Nathan Clarke is on the O's books, missed his first Sky Bet League One game of the season at Tranmere because of a thigh problem, yet he is hopeful that, with no midweek game for North End, he can play in the meeting between two of the division's high-fliers.

Teenage forward Josh Brownhill, who has not played since the end of January, could also return as he nears full fitness from a groin problem.

Preston head into the clash five points behind third-placed Orient but with a game in hand on Russell Slade's men.

Elliot Omozusi faces a late fitness test for Leyton Orient as they aim to get their stuttering promotion challenge back on track.

The full-back hobbled off against Peterborough last weekend with a groin injury and missed the midweek defeat to Bristol City. Gary Sawyer will deputise once more if Omozusi does not recover in time.

Hull goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic has returned on loan to hand the O's a boost with Jamie Jones (back) injured and Ben Alnwick granted time off for personal reasons.

Orient's 3-1 loss to the Robins was their third in a row and saw them miss the chance to move back to the top of Sky Bet League One.
