Cansdell-Sherriff misses Shakers clash

Preston will once again be without Shane Cansdell-Sherriff when they host Bury in npower League One.

Cansdell-Sherriff received his second red card of the season when the two sides met in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy a week ago and must complete a two-match ban.

David Buchanan was restored to North End's starting line-up in his place at left-back for Saturday's 1-1 draw at Coventry and Chris Robertson also came in for Luke Foster at centre-half.

Graham Cummins is hoping to keep his place in attack having earned a first league start of the season at the Ricoh Arena.

The Lilywhites have got the better of Bury twice already this term.

Cansdell-Sherriff netted what turned out to be the winner in September's 2-1 league victory before last week's penalty shootout triumph on their return to Gigg Lane - the conclusion to a heated 3-3 draw that appeared to leave lingering ill-feeling between boss Graham Westley and his counterpart Kevin Blackwell.

Defenders Scott Laird (broken leg) and Keith Keane (knee) are long-term absentees.

Troy Hewitt is pushing for a start for Bury.

On-loan QPR striker Hewitt scored the winner against Scunthorpe when the Shakers last claimed three points, five npower League One games ago at Scunthorpe.

For the last two matches, the 22-year-old has had to be content with a place on the bench on account of David Healy's return from injury, but he replaced the veteran Northern Ireland international after 54 minutes when Kevin Blackwell's side came back to snatch a dramatic 2-2 draw against Shrewsbury on Friday night.

Blackwell is without Gregg Wylde after the winger's one-month loan spell from Bolton expired - a factor that may see Tom Soares return to the starting line-up.

Defenders Adam Lockwood (groin) and Phil Picken (knee) are long-term absentees, while Andy Bishop remains sidelined with a foot problem.
