Garner boost for Preston

Preston have top scorer Joe Garner back for their clash with fellow high-fliers Brentford at Deepdale.

The North End striker, who has eight goals to his credit this term, has missed his side's previous three encounters after he was retrospectively given a three-game suspension following a case of mistaken identity when Neil Kilkenny was originally awarded a red card in the 2-0 win over Port Vale.

Simon Grayson's men are currently on a 11-game unbeaten run and Garner has scored seven goals in the last five contests he has played in so with Paul Gallagher completing a three-match suspension himself, the leading marksman's return is very welcome.

Utility-man Jack King (foot) still has not trained yet but Grayson is hopeful of introducing him back into the line-up over the hectic festive period.

Brentford boss Mark Warburton has no new injury concerns for the trip.

Full-back Scott Barron is the only absentee and he is stepping up his training as he continues to recover from a hip injury.

Warburton could stick with the side which secured a 1-0 win over Oldham in his first game in charge last weekend.

However, winger Sam Saunders and striker Marcello Trotta helped turn the game in Brentford's favour after coming on as subs so they are pushing for starts, while midfielder Toumani Diagouraga will be hoping to return to the squad after missing out altogether.
