Daniel Johnson and Simon Makienok set to boost Preston when Bristol City visit

Daniel Johnson and Simon Makienok are options once more when Preston host Bristol City.

The duo missed the draw against Nottingham Forest at the weekend because of family reasons, with Johnson becoming a father for the first time at the weekend.

Irish pair Andy Boyle and Daryl Horgan were both withdrawn at half-time on Saturday and boss Simon Grayson is mindful they have had a long season already so may rest the pair.

North End are still unable to call upon Tyias Browning, Calum Woods (both knee) or John Welsh (calf).

Bristol City veteran Gary O'Neil faces a fitness test on a knee injury.

O'Neil said he "felt something pop behind his knee" during Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Brentford but the midfielder has a chance of being fit at Deepdale.

Mark Little could return at right-back after a hamstring lay-off, with Korey Smith possibly reverting to a more familiar midfield position.

But Bobby Reid and Jens Hegeler are also in contention to start with Robins boss Lee Johnson considering his midfield options.
