Peter Risdale confirmed this morning that Sky Sports had reported incorrectly that Unsworth and Alexander had been given the job until the end of the season.
The Preston chairman has made an approach to another club to seek permission to talk to their manager.
Whilst Risdale did not go as far as nameing the club or manager sources in Hertfordshire state that Stevenage have received a formal approach for Graham Westley to be interviewed for the vacant managerial role at Preston.
