Preston Left Rooted
Preston remain adrift at the bottom of the table as they fell to a 2-0 defeat away at Barnsley. Brown played new signings Leon Clarke and Ian Ashbee but Eddie Johnson was signed too late for this match. Preston played in the 5-3-2 formation with the back five remaining the same but Nicholson came into midfield with Hume playing off the front two. Preston took around 800 fans to Oakwell and at times had keeper Andy Lonergan to thank for keeping them in the game but a goal in the first half from O'Connor put Preston on the back foot and as they threw everything forward late on, O'Connor grabbed a second. Preston remain bottom butmost clubs around them also tasted defeat this evening so Brown now has to rebuild some confidence before the home game against Bristol City this Saturday.
