Preston 1-1 Bury: Match Report

Lateef leaves it late

Lateef Elford-Alliyu's last-gasp equaliser earned Bury a 1-1 draw and a crucial point in their battle to avoid the drop - while putting more pressure on Preston boss Graham Westley.

Arsenal loanee Chuks Aneke's first senior goal on his debut looked to have arrested a run of three consecutive home draws for North End and Westley.

But substitute and fellow loanee Elford-Alliyu had other ideas, notching a 92nd-minute equaliser just four minutes after joining the fray.

Preston were indebted to keeper Thorsten Stuckmann for a trio of saves either side of the break from David Amoo, Andrai Jones and Andy Bishop which kept the scores level.

And when Aneke finally broke the deadlock against the run of play with a deflected 68th minute effort - off Efetobore Sodje - the luck appeared to be with the home side.

But despite having endured a winless run which stretches back to January 21 the Shakers kept their belief and were rewarded with Elford-Alliyu's late equaliser - smashing home the rebound after Amoo's strike had rattled the crossbar.
