Poor Away Form Continues

Preston have won one away league game under Darren Ferguson and they failed to gain anything against a poor Sheffield United side on Saturday. In fairness, Preston should have had a point. Both sides were poor and a far cry from the play off sides of a couple of seasons ago. Sheff Utd lacked any real threat with most efforts including the goal coming from long range. Preston hit the bar early on thanks to a Matty James effort and probably had the best of the chances thanks to a lively Josh King up front. All in all though Preston rarely troubled the home goalkeeper. The match looked to be heading for a draw until Calve hit a twenty five yard screamer past the outstretched arms of Lonergan. It was a strike fit to win any game but was at odds with everything else that was abject in this match. Preston now have a two week break before heading to Burnley where Preston fans will truly be hoping that the form book is thrown out of the window on derby day otherwise it could be a bleak Saturday evening for everyone watching at the match and on the box.
