PNE fans keen to strengthen ties

Two public meetings have already been held regarding the proposed North End Supporters Trust (NEST) and the second was attended by Preston chairman Derek Shaw.[LNB]The driving force behind the NEST, life-long North End fan Nigel Cowperthwaite, told the Lancashire Evening Post: "At the moment the fans haven't got a united voice - a few will voice their opinion online or contact the club itself but that doesn't produce anything positive. It probably makes things worse.[LNB]"The aim is to set up a supporters' trust to bring together PNE fans and help take the club forward. Derek Shaw attended our meeting on Tuesday night and said he is not against us setting the trust up - in fact he was very encouraging.[LNB]"A supporters' trust is not a fans group. It's independent of the club but will give an official voice to a number of fans. We would take the views of the fans and present them to the club in a business-like manner.[LNB]"I think everyone would agree the club and fans need to reconnect again, recently things have been very negative. So far the feedback from PNE fans has been very positive - they think something like this is much needed. The impression I get is that is the way the club see it too."[LNB][LNB]
