After a 2-0 win over Doncaster on Easter Monday, the Lancashire outfit are four points adrift of Burnley in the last play-off place with three games remaining.[LNB]Preston play Cardiff at the weekend realistically needing a victory to keep their promotion ambitions alive, and Irvine is confident that his players are ready to take advantage of any slip-up from the teams above them.[LNB]"Doncaster was a must-win game, if we'd got beaten it would have left us seven points behind with nine to play for," he told the Lancashire Evening Post.[LNB]"Now we are still fighting, breathing down the necks of the teams above, and Saturday's game against Cardiff is going to be a good one."[LNB][LNB][LNB]
