The tough-tackling centre-half is expected to make his international debut alongside North End team-mate Eddie Nolan in the Republic's friendly against Nigeria at Craven Cottage. Both St Ledger and Nolan have played together with Richard Dunne and Kevin Foley in the back four in a practice session at Ireland's training base. This is St Ledger's first call-up under coach Giovanni Trapattoni and the 24-year-old is aiming to make the most of his opportunity. He told the Lancashire Evening Post: "It will be a dream come true for me to play. "If I get a chance to start it will be amazing. But I have to prove myself and show I deserve to be in the squad all the time."
