Parkin planning to get on goal trail

Parkin was North End's top scorer with 11 league goals last season but had to overcome a 15-game barren run to do so. After arriving from Stoke in a £500,000 move last August, it took him until December 9 to net his first goal. Parkin told the Evening Post: "I did make a slow start before managing to start scoring in the second half of last season. "A similar thing happened earlier in my career. I went to Macclesfield and scored once in my first 16 games, but ended up with 36 goals in 75 appearances. "In the early games with Preston I was missing chances, hitting the woodwork or goalkeeper, so at least I was getting in the right places. Then the goals started coming and hopefully I can hit the ground running this time."
