Preston chairman Maurice Lindsay has revealed manager Darren Ferguson was in talks to bring in a deadline-day signing but was foiled by the 6pm cut-off. The North End boss had hoped to bring one of his targets to Deepdale but was beaten by the Tuesday deadline, according to the the club's chairman. "We were in negotiations all day with regard to bringing a player in," Lindsay told the Lancashire Evening Post. "We weren't able to conclude that one but there's a chance we could follow it up as a possible loan at some point."
