North End cut costs

The Football League's latest figures show that Preston spent £385,000 on agents fees during the 2009/10 season. This marks a significant drop from the Lillywhites respective figure of £462,501 from the previous campaign - a move at odds with the general trend throughout the league. Spending on agents fees by Football League clubs rose to £12.7million over the past 12 months, compared to the 2008/09 figure of £8.8million. "Given the current economic climate, it is worrying to see such a significant amount leaking from the game," said Football League chairman Greg Clarke in response to the report. "This year`s figures demonstrate a considerable increase on those of last season and it is essential that clubs work to reduce this liability over the coming campaign."
