No wholesale changes at Deepdale
North End punched above their weight this season to reach the Championship play-off semi-finals before losing to Sheffield United.
Finances remain tight at Deepdale and Irvine is focused on the long-term aim of making the club successful.
He said: "Everyone knows that we can't make massive alterations to the squad because of financial restraints but at the same time we can make ourselves better for next year.
"I've said many times that this is not a short-term job, it's a job that will take a while and it has probably been ahead of schedule so far."
