Preston ended their extraordinary run of ending JPT matches with a penalty shootout as they managed to beat Morecambe in normal time at the Globe Arena.

Atemming back to last season, Preston have a history of drawing games since their return to this competion after relegation from the Championship.

Westley made changes after teh weekend's disappointing display and this paid off as Preston came out on top with a 4-2 victory with a number of late goals int he game.

Morecambe took a first half lead through Musatoe which was then cancelled out after the break through Cummings first goal for the club and it appeared the game might end all square with another shot out.

Cummings was replaced by Sodje who scored after being ont he pitch less than 30 seconds only for Morecambe to level moments later. Huntington then restored North End's lead before Sodje added his second.

Preston now go through to the next round and will be looking for a home tie after travelling to Carlisle and Morecambe so far this season.
