Negotiations Ongoing
Darren Ferguson has confirmed that negotiations are ongoing with Youl Mawene for the renewal of his contract and also with Danny Wellbeck in an attempt to bring him back on loan. Wellbeck played eight times for North End last season on loan but his spell was cut short due to a knee injury. Ferguson is attempting to try to re-sign the striker but is having competition from Premier League clubs including Fulham. The ball is now in Wellbeck's court but if he prefers to spend a season outside the top flight then North End will have first refusal meaning the youngster could be heading back to North End but no deal is likely to be done until close to the start of the season. North End are currently in talks with centre back Mawene over a new deal and developments are expected to be made over the next couple of weeks in an attempt to keep the experienced defender at Deepdale.
