Nearly But Not Quite

Preston just fell short of the magical 50 point mark as they were denied victory by a last minute equaliser away at Stevenage on Easter Monday.

After an encouraging display at home on Saturday Preston were looking to carry on away at Graham Westley's former club Stevenage.

The visitors took the lead through Iain Hume with only five minutes remaining on the clock but as the game went into stoppage tim Stevenage, who have been on a poor run of late managed an equaliser.

After all is said and done, Preston now have 49 points, one short of the magical 50 point safety mark but more importantly they remain seven above Wycombe who occupy the last relegation place.

Realistically a further point out of Preston's remaining four games should see them safe although mathmatically if Wycombe (and others) won three out of their last four and Preston failed to pick up another point then the Whites would go down.
