Neil Mellor has been targeted by the MK Dons as the striker looks to have played his last game for the Whires.

Mellor who was signed by Paul Simpson has had an injury hit career at Deepdale with him failing to finish anywhere near the required number of games in a season that you would expect of a decnt striker.

The frontman went on loan to Wednesday last season and returned to Deepdale for the final year of his contract as the two clubs could not agree a permanent deal.

The injury prone striker then got injured again just before Christmas on telewvision in the game against the MK Dons. Not another player was in ten yards of Mellor but somehow upon walking on the pitch he managed to do his knee ligamants.

The ex-Liverpool player has been out ever since except when he featured as a sub the other week when the injury flared up again ruling him out for the season.

He was reecentle seen in public with Karl Robinson, the MK Dons boss but Mellor denied a move was on the cards citing that the two were old mates from his Liverpool days. However, Robinson has come out publicly saying he has made Mellor a target when he becomes available on a Bosman free transfer in the Summer.
