Lonergan Let Off

14 September 2010 13:20
Despite a clamouring campaign in the Lancashire Evening Telegraph, Lancashire police will not be charging Andy Lonergan over various incidents during the Burnley game on Saturday. The LET decided to publish shots of Lonergan making various gestures (presumably at the Burnley fans) but the police are to take no further action presumably because the evidence wouldn't warrant a prosecution of any sorts. The police have said they will leave any punishment to the FA. Nothing has yet been forthcoming from the FA who are apparently aware of the incident through the referee's report (yes the same referee who managed to miss several clear cut decsions on both sides). Anyway, we expect some form of statement soon from the FA after they earlier charged boss Darren Ferguson with the usual improper conduct charge.
