Lonergan calls for North End optimism

Preston have not tasted top-flight football since 1961 but they remain firmly in the hunt for a coveted play-off berth. It was their 14th home win of the campaign, yet goalkeeper Lonergan was quick to issue a warning to the club's more fickle followers. The 25-year-old said: "It was only a minority when we came off in the first half but I can't get my head round it. "The majority of the fans are great but some of the older ones should know better and I don't mind saying it. "Being a local lad it would mean everything to win promotion but we need to get the negativity out of the stadium right now."
