Lonergan backing for PNE chairman

Shaw came in for criticism from sections of the Deepdale support after selling St Ledger to Middlesbrough this week.[LNB]"It is always a shame to lose your best players, but then again I think it was a fantastic price for him," Lonergan told the Lancashire Evening Post. "Credit to the chairman there - £4.5million for a centre-half is a lot of money.[LNB]"He takes a lot of stick and I want to back him up. I feel some of the criticism he gets is pretty unwarranted.[LNB]"Derek Shaw is running a good club. Obviously I would like him to buy more players and give us more money for wages, just like everyone does.[LNB]"But we have to be realistic and sensible. We invest when we need to invest and don't live beyond our means, which a lot of clubs do and get into trouble for."[LNB][LNB]
