Lindsay looking forward with optimism

Preston chairman Maurice Lindsay believes the club can look forward to next season with renewed optimism as they seek to bounce straight back into the Championship. Phil Brown`s men are gearing up for life in League One after the club suffered their first relegation in 18 years. The current campaign has been a traumatic one at Deepdale as Darren Ferguson was sacked midway through the season and the club also suffered financial problems. "Next season has to be the beginning of a new Preston North End," said Lindsay. "Last season was seriously disrupted by managerial change, loss of players overnight and a dreadful run of injuries. "We could not have been in a worse position at the start of the season as we had several winding up petitions presented against the club before we had even kicked off in the first game. All that has now been rectified and will never happen again. "The arrival of Phil Brown and Brian Horton, well supported by David Unsworth, has brought about a fresh spirit in the side; we intend to build upon that."
