Leeds Confirm Lonergan Deal

After weeks of will he won't he, Andy Lonergan signed a permanent deal to move across the Pennines to Leeds after completing personal terms. An offer was on the table a number of weeks ago with Preston having accepted a fee for the stopper. Due to family problems Lonergan had stalled over agreeing personal terms but that was put to bed today when he sign a contract to see a switch to Leeds. Preston will probably receive around £500,000 for the keeper which may well be reinvested in the squad but more importantly gets a high earner off the books. Brown now has a straight choice between Roy Carroll and Iain Turner as Lonergan's replacement.
