Jokers In The Pack

27 March 2010 17:34
Preston have now failed to win in their last four games throwing away a two goal lead in their second consecutive home match. Both teams were poor, the game wasn't much better and the referee seemed to make some bizarre decisions throughout which contibuted to a laughable afternoon all round. The first half had no major incidents barring the goal thamks to two very uninspiring teams who just lacked any real justification in their moves. Preston did take the lead - I'm not sure whether the corner kick was scuffed into the box but it evaded everyone as it was so low except Billy Jones who side footed home. THe second half was much more lively due to the comedy that was on show. Parkin was pulled down in the box and the referee for all his faults (he booked a player earlier for kicking the ball out for a corner) pointed to the spot. Davidson converted the penalty. Preston should then have taken control as Mellor hit a one on one straight against the keeper and Parkin fluffed the rebound. Preston's lead was halved as QPR passed the ball neatly and with Lonergan committed Ramage slotted home. Soon after they scored again as St Ledger played the QPR forward line onside by a good two yards allowing Priskin to score. QPR had a chance to clinch it but due to their lack of ability they faile to take advantage of th emany jokers playing in White. Half the side had their minds on the summer ahead summed up by Matt James who was left to fight for himself with no support and three men around him. Preston must now ensure another couple of points to be safe before Ferguson can start a summer clear out.
