Iwelumo's Wages Prove Stumbling Block
Preston have revealed that a fee was agreed with Burnley to bring striker Chris Iwelumo to Preston alongside the loan signing of Leon Clarke from QPR. Iwelumo came to Preston for talks after the two Lancashire clubs agreed a fee but personal terms could not be agreed. It was revealed that the striker's demands were too much and his wage would have smashed the wage bracket at Deepdale with Iwelumo likely to be on significantly more money than the rest of the squad.
