Irvine predicting tense finale

North End currently lie seventh in the table, just two points outside the play-off places, and Irvine believes his side can still make the top six despite nearest rivals Cardiff having two games in hand. Irvine told the Lancashire Evening Post: "I think everyone above us will lose points between now and the end of the season. How many they will drop I don't know. "But the nature of the Championship means it is unlikely anyone will win all their remaining matches. "I still think the points total needed will be around 73 or 74 and so that means we have a rough idea of what we need to get from our last six matches. "But whatever anyone else is doing we have got to make sure we do our best in all our matches. I think we will probably need to win four of them or somewhere around that figure."
