Irvine keen to avoid Swans repeat

Swansea were one of two sides who managed the feat last term - Southampton being the other - but Irvine is determined there will be no repeat. It was Roberto Martinez's slick Swans side that bettered North End last term, but Irvine believes their style has not changed much under new boss Paulo Sousa. "Swansea are a good footballing team, play from the back and make a lot of passes," he told the Evening Post. "They've lost their manager from last season but in Paulo Sousa have someone with a similar philosophy. I think he is a good appointment for Swansea because of the type of players in their squad. "I actually thought Paulo did a good job at Queens Park Rangers last season, but obviously things didn't work out for him there."
